Happy Spring to all of you. As the weather heats up, we can enjoy our plants. The cactus are starting to bloom, and it is flip flop weather once more.
We had a very nice meeting last month with some new faces along with the regulars. If you are a new member, or one who has been with us for a while, and you joined mainly to get into the shows early, please consider coming to our meetings. We start setting up at 8:00 a.m. even though the meeting starts at 1:00 p.m. Plants are for sale around 10:00 a.m., we have a workshop at 11:00 a.m., and a great deal of socializing and plants discussion goes on until 1:00 p.m. At the start of the meeting, we have some announcements of what is going on in our hobby (our outreach and other clubs’ events), we have a Plant of the Month talk (about 15 to 20 minutes), the Brag Table is judged and information about those plants shared, and then we take a break. During that break we have a Benefit Drawing. After the break we have our main speaker. The talk could be a travelogue or about a specific plant type, or some other interesting aspect of our hobby. At the end of the meeting, we have a drawing at our Exchange Table. Lots of different ways to get to know other members and acquire plants and pots.
I have been a member for twenty years and it always surprises me just how much we have going on at our meetings. So come early and get a parking spot or come in the late morning and still get lots of good stuff.
